looks like there are some compatibility issues with the popular Shortpixel Image Optimizer Plugin (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/shortpixel-image-optimiser/)
Here are 2 issues I’m currently running into:
- when the “smart crop” in Shortpixel is enabled (which tries to get a better crop than the regular one automatically) then the preview shown in the Crop Thumbnails plugin doesn’t match. The preview image shows a different crop in the thumbnail than the actual image on file, which is a big problem since you first check these thumbnails to figure out IF/WHICH image needs a manual crop fix at all…
- The Shortpixel plugin has an option to create WebP/AVIF versions for all images. Unfortunately, using the manual crop in the Crop Thumbnails plugin only the “original” (jpg/png) files are cropped. All the WebP/AVIF versions are not affected. Obviously, if you want to serve these files then it’s essential to have them cropped correctly as well.
Would be really great to see these 2 fantastic plugins work together.
